The Hunt - Keyframe

One of two keyframes that I worked on for my thesis project, After the Unknown. With this piece I really wanted to bring attention to the scale of the creature, and how it might be moving or defending its territory, even within this still frame. Coming up with the composition was especially fun, and then using different values to really push the foreground, mid-ground, and background, brought the sort of dramatic flare that I was seeking to have with this drawing.
Since it was a piece I started during my post-grad program, I've decided to leave it unfinished, but I definitely learned so many things that I can now apply to my future works when it comes to environment design and how to show more story with small elements throughout the artwork.
